Legacy Blocks 3 and 4: Continue your independent reading for at least 30 minutes a night.  Use the approach from our historical references minilesson to read for now-obscure references to people, places, things, or events–references that authors assume readers know.  The interpretations that you make about an author’s meaning by using these reference points help you see “where the writer is coming from.”
