Web 2.0 with Ms. Rekkas
Genesis: I supported Genesis students in the reading and writing classrooms as general procedures for reading and writing workshop were established and students worked collaboratively and individually on reading and writing activities. We will continue this work when students join me for pull-out reading lessons next week. I will inform students when and how they will receive their current pull-out instruction.
Legacy: We worked on activities that challenged our preconceived notions about what we should be reading and why we should commit to reading in a reading workshop. We described what our personal “reading zones” are like, and shared the titles and authors that cause us to become absorbed in literature. We evaluated a Reader’s Bill of Rights and completed reading surveys to chart our growth throughout the school year. We defined Holiday, Just Right, and Challenge terms to describe our independent reading choices in order to create a common language for our reading conferences. We also continued our vocabulary study and began our World Classic daily poem readings.
Explorers: With Mrs. Franks, I conducted writing conferences with students. Please check the Explorer newsletter for additional course information.
